You should be aware that the laws and the procedures regarding process and requirements for getting residence permits in Northern Cyprus are subject to sudden and unannounced changes. Such changes may require additional documents to be provided to the Police and/or the Ministry of Interior upon submission of the documents.

RESIDENCE PERMIT BASED ON HIGH INCOME:

  1. Original and copy of the passport;
  2. Copy of the entry stamp/previous residence permit;
  3. Passport type photograph;
  4. Original Mukhtar’s letter;
  5. Rental Agreement stamped by the Tax Office OR if you stay in the property of your relative or partner, Declaration from the property owner;
  6. Bank Statement issued by local bank showing a monthly income equal to 3 x minimum wage or the annual equivalent of the above amount. HOWEVER, FOR BRITISH CITIZENS OVER 60 YEARS OLD, the police accept bank statements proving that the applicant receives monthly pension or have savings equivalent to 12 times minimum monthly wage. The bank statement can be issued by local or overseas banks
  7. Child’s copy of the passport & Birth Certificate. A Birth Certificate should be translated into Turkish by a sworn TRNC translator.

RESIDENCE PERMIT BASED ON IMMOVABLE PROPERTY OWNERSHIP:

  1. Original and copy of the passport;
  2. Copy of the entry stamp/previous residence permit;
  3. Passport type photograph;
  4. Original Mukhtar’s letter;
  5. Copy of the Contract of Sale stamped by the Tax Office/ Title deed;
  6. Copy of the application for PTP;
  7. Copy of the receipt from District Lands Office and form 34N.A proving that your Contract of Sale is registered;
  8. Recent utility bills with your name on it;
  9. Receipt proving that all sale price has been paid.
  10. Bank Statement showing monthly income equal to one minimum salary wage or savings equal to 12 times one minimum salary wage.
  11. Child’s copy of the passport & Birth Certificate. A Birth Certificate should be translated into Turkish by a sworn TRNC translator.
  12. Property must be suitable for living in. If property is not completed, the applicant cannot apply for this type of residence permit.

FAMILY RESIDENCE PERMIT (SPOUSE/PARTNER) :

  1. A partner or a spouse of the residence/work permit holder can apply for a family residence permit by providing a copy of a marriage certificate or single status certificates issued by the country of citizenship. There is no need for a marriage certificate or single status certificate to be apostilled. However, either of the documents must be translated into Turkish by the TRNC sworn translator.
  2. Original and copy of the passport;
  3. Sponsor’s passport copy & residence/work permit;
  4. Sponsor’s bank statement showing monthly income equal to one minimum salary wage or savings equal to 12 times one minimum salary wage.
  5. Marriage certificate OR
  6. Single Status Certificates for the sponsor and the applicant & Civil Partnership Declaration signed before a Certifying Officer;
  7. Copy of the entry stamp/previous residence permit;
  8. Passport type photograph;
  9. Original Mukhtar’s letter;
  10. Rental Agreement stamped by the Tax Office/Title deed/Contract of Sale of the sponsor.
  11. Child’s copy of the passport & Birth Certificate. A Birth Certificate should be translated into Turkish by a sworn TRNC translator.

SINGLE STATUS CERTIFICATE

The Immigration will not accept the single status certificate issued by Mukhtar or TRNC Certifying Officer.

Exemption for those who are 60 years old and above and own immovable property:

The application for exemption from residence permit is made to Ministry of Interior.

No appointment is required.

The exemption will be issued on the same day and will be valid for 5 years.

The required documents are the same as for RESIDENCE PERMIT BASED ON IMMOVABLE PROPERTY OWNERSHIP.

Exemption for partners/spouse of those who are over 60 years old and own immovable property:

The required documents are the same as for FAMILY RESIDENCE PERMIT (SPOUSE/PARTNER)

In order for the spouse/partner to obtain the exemption, he/she must be 60 years old or above.

Exemption for Parents who are 60 Years old or above whose children have Residence Permit/ Work Permit/ TRNC Citizens:

  1. Original and copy of the passport;
  2. Copy of the entry stamp/Ins & Outs Report;
  3. Child’s passport copy and Child’s residence permit/ work permit/ permanent permit/ TRNC ID card;
  4. Copy of the Rental Agreement stamped by the Tax Office/Title deed/Contract of Sale of the child;
  5. Bank statement of the child (may be requested)
  6. Birth Certificate of the child – to be translated into Turkish by the TRNC sworn translation.
