Read 2021 – NEW RULES ON ENTRY TO NORTHERN CYPRUS (TRNC) – Advance Payment for Quarantine
Due to the increasing number of new coronavirus cases in Northern Cyprus and non-adherence to COVID-19 restrictions, the TRNC Council of Ministers took new measures and decisions on penalties for breaking Covid-19 restrictions, in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus disease and stop unsafe Covid-19 behavior.
The penalties for breaching the measures against the spread of COVID-19 are as follows:
- A fine of 382 TL will be imposed for not wearing a mask indoors and in open areas where 1.5 metres of social distancing cannot be maintained and for non-adherence to social distancing rules.
- Businesses that do not comply with Covid-19 restrictions must pay a fine of 3820 TL and will be closed for 24 hours.
- If a fine is not paid within 30 days, a further fine of up to 22,920 TL or a penalty of up to 1 year of prison sentence, or both, will be imposed.
- In the event where the fined business fails to close down for 24 hours as foreseen by the law, another fine of up to 19,100 TL or a penalty of up to 1 year prison sentence, or both, will be imposed.
- A person may be charged a fine of up to 19,100 TL or be sent to a prison up to 1 year, or both, for breaching a quarantine or self-isolation regime.
- If a person knows or is capable of knowing that s/he has a COVID-19 and acts in manner that can cause a threat to public health, a fine of up to 19,100 TL or a prison sentence of up to 1 year, or both, will be imposed.
