Read 2021 – NEW RULES ON ENTRY TO NORTHERN CYPRUS (TRNC) – Advance Payment for Quarantine
Midnight decision of The Council of Ministers: Updated list of Categories and New Rules
BORDERS OF THE TRNC ARE OPEN and there is no intention to close them.
On 5th July 2020, the TRNC Council of Ministers took a decision relating to new measures concerning entry into Northern Cyprus.
The Council of Ministers declared a series of measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 through crossing points between South and North Cyprus. Thus, as of 5 th July 2020, Turkish Cypriots who work or live in South Cyprus and Greek Cypriots that reside in the Karpaz region are allowed to pass through the crossing points without being quarantined, PROVIDED negative PCR tests taken within 72 hours before crossing over. The PCR test has to be repeated every 15 days.
As you might be aware, recently there have been some incidents at the checkpoints, when Greek Cypriot immigration police prevented tourists and those not resident in the South from entering Northern Cyprus. If you are planning to enter Cyprus via Larnaca Airport and to cross the Green Line from the South to North, we recommend that you to pass thorough the Beyarmudu / Pergamos checkpoint. That checkpoint is controlled by the Turkish Cypriot and British Sovereign Base Area police and it is possible to cross over.
